Thanks for the Prayers

I just want to once again thank the so many people who have continued so faithfully to pray for Rosa especially, but our entire family while going through the last couple of years. So much has taken place with Rosa’s health, but God is so good and her visit with Dr. Friedman yesterday was such encouragement. He said, “You had an ugly tumor”, with “had” being the operative word. The MRI on monday showed no signs of it reoccurring and we are so thankful. Don’t have to go back to him for a year. Back in July we found out that her chemo-therapy has brought the leukemia cells down to almost nothing. Although she will have to stay on it, that’s a minor thing to have to do. For all of this and through all of this it has been one blessing after the other and we are very, very grateful to God and the so many prayers. Thank you.

I do ask however that you continue to pray for us. Without going into a lot of detail, back in February I resigned as Pastor of the Church where I served for over 23 years. It was a very tough decision and one that did not come easily, or, without difficulty. I prayed and can only say that God gave me peace to do what I did. The hard part was not knowing what I would do, or where God would lead us. So far I have been filling in at some churches and presently Interim at First Baptist Spring Hope.

Here’s my prayer request. That God would lead us soon to do what He wills and plans for our life’s. It’s hard to wait as we all know but you can’t afford to get ahead of Him and neither can you rush Him. So just pray for courage and strength. The other thing is that I will not have health insurance after the end of August. That obviously is a big concern for anyone without it. So I need either another church position or a job that will provide this for me. I covet your prayers for these needs and I thank you once again.

“Childlikeness”

Have you ever thought that before you achieve Christlikeness you first must possess “Childlikeness?” In Mark’s gospel there are some children brought before Jesus that He might touch them and the disciples rebuke those people for it. But Jesus tells them, ” let the children come to Me, and do not forbid them for such is the kingdom of God.” (Mk. 10″13) Now in order to understand this you simply have to ask yourself what are a child’s characteristics? And you will discover that a child is for the most part; warm, loving, and trusting, , honest, sincere, excited about life, happy, anxious to learn, and they look to their parents or others for guidance and protection. All of which are qualities that Jesus said we need to possess you “inherit the kingdom of God.” “Lord, may we be changed from within in order that we may come to You as little children.”

We’re Praising the Lord

We received the report from Rosa’s blood work at UNC today.. The chroma zone cells that were infected with the CML were down from 1000 in January when she went back on her chemo to 60. Don’t that just make you want to shout “Glory to God in the Highest?”

Been Awhile, Huh?

Rosa went back to Chapel Hill today for blood work and a follow-up visit with the Hemotologist. They are checking to see if the medicine has helped to lower the number of cells the CML is producing in her body. We hope that is the case and will continue to do so. We will hear from the test in about a week and will let everyone know the results. Again, we know that so many are praying for her and will continue. Thank you all and we just give God the Glory no matter what. Amen.

Spring is Coming

We are doing fine and Rosa has worked half days all this month and will start full days in March. She is tired most days and has to rest a while when she gets home, but we hope that will improve. Her ear infections have been the greatest dilemma but again, hope that will be better after this round of antibiotics. Hope all is well with you all and everyone is ready for spring time. Ears

Rosa went to Dr. Costillios today and she still has a double ear infection. He has prescribed a third antibiotic for her. If this does not work she will have to see a eye, ear and nose specialist. We hope and pray that it won’t come to that. Thanks for your prayers.

Duke Report

Rosa received a good report from her Doctor at Duke today. She doesn’t have to go back until August. Praise the Lord.

Rosa still has a double ear infection and now a sinus infection. Please pray that the medicine will take care of it and she will feel better soon. She was to go back to work today on a part time basis but the center was closed today. They will be open tomorrow two hours late. We will just have to see how she feels in the morning and decide if she should wait another day. All of your Prayers are appreciated.

No More antibiotic for infection from surgery. We finished the last dosage last night and it feels mighty good not to have to go through that today. Please continue to pray for Rosa’s complete healing and her getting back to some normal activity in her life. Thank you!

Today’s Report

The Doctor gave Rosa a good report today. He said everything was looking good and that he would not extend the antibiotics after tomorrow night when she finishes the second of the two she has been on for over six weeks now. Praise God! She will go back to see him in 3 weeks for a follow-up and if all is still going well it will then most likely be six months to one year. Praise Him again! Please keep praying for Rosa to gain strength every day and that

she will heal completely.
